CORPORATE PRAYER

WISDOM & SANCTIFICATION
February 9th

Father we come before You today to thank You, that because of the price You paid by sending Your son, Jesus Christ, a way was created for us to worship and know You fully.  And because we know You, we are able to walk with our eyes open.  You have given us the ability to create, and to appreciate the fruits of creativity You have given others.  But we also know the forces of darkness and our own sinful weaknesses have sought to pervert every good gift and talent You’ve given us.  For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that we do not do the things we wish.

Father, we intuitively recognize media products that build us up from those that tear us down.  We ask You now to give us – through Your Spirit – an even greater ability to distinguish between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean.
We do not want to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that through our daily habits – which include the media we choose to consume - we may prove to others and to ourselves what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
We thank You for the intelligence and skills through which we have developed our media technologies.  But we speak against those who love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking righteousness.

They have made a covenant with death . . . lies are their refuge, and under falsehood they have hidden ourselves.
Father, we will not walk with them.  We will not consume their products.  We will keep our feet from their paths; For their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.

As Christians, we will not produce works of the flesh, nor will we consume works of the flesh.
We will not involve ourselves with stories about adultery,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about fornication,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about uncleanness,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about lewdness,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about idolatry,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about sorcery,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about hatred,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about contentions,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about jealousies,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about outbursts of wrath,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about selfish ambitions,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about dissensions,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about heresies,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about envy,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about murders,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about drunkenness,
We will not involve ourselves with stories about revelries, and the like;
You’ve told us before and You’re telling us now, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Father, here are the stores we will tell.  Here are the stories we will consume.
Stories that are the fruits of your spirit.
Stories about love,
Stories about joy,
Stories about peace,
Stories about longsuffering,
Stories about kindness,
Stories about goodness,
Stories about faithfulness,
Stories about gentleness,
Stories about self-control.
Against such stories there is no law.

These are the stories we will show our children.  These are the stories we will talk about when we sit in our houses, when we walk by the way, when we lie down, and when we rise up.

Finally, Father, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – we will meditate on these things.

In Your name we pray, Jesus.  Amen.
