Many activities DRAIN us and many activities ENERGIZE us. The list of things that drain one person can actually energize another person and vice versa. For some people, working out first thing in the morning energizes their day. But for a lot of people, working out first thing in the morning would put them right back in the bed after they were done. One of the largest obstacles in engaging in activities that energize us is finding time in our busy schedule to do those things. Our schedules are so full of errands, taking care of the kids, and work that we often fail to follow through in to carving out "me" time.

While we encourage you to find the time to do more of the things that energize you, here's one thing the Bible offers you as something you can do TODAY to recharge your batteries.

Proverbs 11:25 "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."(NIV)

We all serve in what many scholars have called, "An Upside Down Kingdom." The premise of that concept is that often in scriptures the quickest way up is to go down. Jesus said, "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it." And Proverbs 11:25 is another one of those "upside down kingdom" moments in the Bible. If you're looking to be refreshed, you should start looking for someone else who needs to be refreshed and then respond. RIGHT NOW, you can ask God who in your world needs to be refreshed and encouraged today. Is it a family member? A co-worker? A girlfriend. Some of the people that need the most encouragement and refreshing are the people we spend time with the most, yet we assume they're encouraged enough.

Another verse in Hebrews shows us the urgency of encouraging others.

Hebrews 3:12- “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another DAILY, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. (NIV)

If you want to stay recharged and refreshed, make it your goal to do this: ENCOURAGE ONE PERSON EVERY SINGLE DAY. We live in a very discouraging society where people need only browse through social media to feel discouraged. Proverbs 11:25 is a steadfast reminder that we can be what we need. Instead of seeking encouragement we can be the encouragement and we will reap what we sow.

Father, thank you for the privilege you have given your children- to give first and then receive. It doesn't just work with money but also when we give of our time to others. Thank you for the return that we receive. You are a generous God!! You do what you will say you're going to do. Thank you that we as human beings can enjoy blessing and refreshing others. We LOVE doing things your way!! Teach us to see the value in one of your greatest commandments, do unto others as you would them do unto you!! Amen!

God will be faithful and NEVER FAIL to give you the words! Get into the grove of refreshing others with this great song from Anthony Evans.
