DAY NINE - GOD IS IN THE DETAILSĀ

As adults we don’t often find ourselves in need of a prompt to obey. After all, obedience is a word we associate with children. But then again, we are children - HIS CHILDREN. Our wish for our own children is that they obey our instruction so that we may protect and prepare them for the brightest future.

God’s desire for our obedience to Him as his children comes from the greatest intention to protect us from the worst and prepare us to inherit the best He has for us.

When God instructed Moses to speak to the rock in the wilderness, so that all of His children could drink, Moses disobeyed the instruction. He refused to speak to the rock and instead reverted to his last success- which was hitting it with a stick. God had made allowances for Moses in the past by allowing others to do the speaking on his behalf. But as a Father, God must’ve wanted Moses to ultimately overcome his fear and finish strong.

The detail between striking and speaking may not have seemed an important one to Moses but it was to God. His disobedience cost him a clear view of the Promised Land and sadly Moses died in the wilderness after years of seeking this single vision. Moses doesn’t sit alone in the cloudy perspective of disobedience that descends on the promise of God. Like Moses, we too lose focus on our goals when we disregard the details. Dismissing the small points and fine details of the promptings from God ultimately equals our disobedience to Him. Even when the finer points seem unimportant to us at times, God’s instruction always comes to us through His Word and through prayer for our protection and preparation. He is a good, good Father.

As an exercise in reflection today, let us look within for the answer to this question:

IN ANY AREA OF MY LIFE, HAVE I NEGLECTED TO FOLLOW THROUGH ON INSTRUCTION OR PROMPTINGS FROM GOD?

From a heart to please God by inhabiting His best for us, our PROMISED LAND, here is a prayer of agreement written by Pastor Kathy Hayes to assist us in clearing our focus and making way for a vision for our future.

Father, in the name of Jesus. According to Habakkuk 2:2, I thank you for the vision you have given me for my life. I make the decision today to be focused and obedient to your daily directives. I ask You for forgiveness for anytime or in any way that I have disregarded Your instruction. I know and trust Your Father’s heart for me. I promise to follow through as you unfold this day you have made.

I will rejoice in your empowerment and clear direction.

Amen.

Enjoy the brilliant reminder that this beautiful anthem, GOOD, GOOD FATHER by Housefires can bring as you walk out your journey to the promise.
