LET'S EXTEND OUR FAST!
Yea, we aren’t gonna do that to you!
However, if The 21 DAYS have seemed like “time served” and you just can’t wait to get back to normal- perhaps you should consider adding on to the fast? I am sure that is not what you want to hear. But one has to wonder, that if after 21 DAYS we are still dying to check for status updates or dive into greasy food…has anything changed?
When it comes to fasting for a lengthy period, grasping your individual fasting plan can become more about WHAT you're eliminating than WHY.
Take a moment and contemplate how eliminating something over the past 21 DAYS has enriched your life. Let these questions guide your reflection. You may be pleasantly surprised at what you find.
- Do you feel better physically, emotionally and spiritually?
- Has intentionality produced fruit in your personal life, relationships or career?
- As you reflect on yourself from 21 DAYS ago, do you see growth, increased clarity and/or creativity?
- Have you received direction or wisdom for upcoming decisions?
- What have you enjoyed about this fast?
If you find the benefits of the last 21 DAYS are creating a space for the right kind of overflow - then take a look at what practices are worthy of keeping after the fast has ended.
PRAYER: Focused prayer, scripturally centered on what God can do.
QUIET TIME: Creating dedicated space to listen, read and focus on goals.
CONSISTANCY: Choosing intentionality everyday.
BOUNDARIES: Maintaining healthy commitments for right reasons.
RELATIONSHIPS: Pursuing strong and healthy communication.
INSPIRATION: Seek out resources and surroundings that uplift.
As the fast ends, our desire and focus can be the new commitments to growth we make today! WE don’t want to RETURN TO NORMAL we want A NEW NORMAL- a powerful new perspective, a greater clarity, an intensity that doesn’t wane! We aren't going back! We are stronger, brighter, happier and on the right track!
Father, I thank You today that You are my high priest making intercession for me. I feel that I have made so much progress in my walk with You during these 21 days.
Please put the seal of the Holy Spirit on this New Normal for me!!
You have clarified my vision for this new season of my life! You have intensified the purpose in which I've been called. I will never look back and I will look forward to the task at hand- serving You !! I thank you for making me more aware of how relatable I am to everyone when allowing the fruit of the Spirit to grow in me. You're the Almighty, Jehovah God that continues be “all that I need- when I need, all that I need!"
Today we are celebrating the completion of THE 21 DAYS and introducing our new series beginning next Sunday with our brand new COVENANT WORSHIP SONG! Today you can listen to SO GOOD and next Sunday join us for- LIFESAVERS: Taste the flavor of a fruitful life!
Quote of The Day: WHAT YOU GET BY ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT YOU BECOME BY ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS.

As children, we would lean into the handlebars, throw our weight forward and begin the grueling, sweaty and steady process of riding a bicycle up hill. We knew that all the discomfort and slow going would be rewarded by the view from the top and the thrill of effortless speed on the other side of our sacrifice. VISION and MOMENTUM were the payoff that followed the pain.
MOMENTUM: Impetus gained by a moving object; ENERGY, FORCE, POWER, STRENGTH
At the beginning of 2016 we were ready to give up on some things. We committed to kick out the unhealthy habits and begin some new and improved ones. Now that we are coming to the end of the 21 DAYS, we may be ready for a change again. Adding some fun foods back, perhaps picking up the TV remote again or joining in on Social Media?
We all know that returning to normal is what is expected after a time of dedicated fasting and prayer. Yet in spite of what we may add back to our lives, we can continue to gain momentum by allowing the powerful practices we adopted for 21 DAYS to remain.
When we are stretching to reach a higher place- a new level, we can’t wait to return to a comfortable position. But when we grow, our reach extends AND we don’t shrink back down after we have attained what we were after.
This next week we have a choice. We can either celebrate the end of our 21 DAYS by retreating back into the previous pattern of living, or we can celebrate our time of dedication by increasing momentum. This is not a suggestion that you stay on a perpetual fast. However, it is an opportunity to observe the ways in which our lives have been enriched over the past three weeks.
And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap
a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.
~ Galatians 6:9 (THE LIVING BIBLE)
For 21 DAYS you have been pedaling up hill. Taxing, trying, pushing and breathing through the unavoidable discomfort of pulling the dead weight of flesh to a higher place. The hard part has been done. You now sit atop a new vista ready to ride like the wind.
Or will you ride the brakes?
Will you glide through the air and enjoy the thrill of ENERGY, FORCE, POWER and STRENGTH?
OR will you sabotage the momentum by downshifting your dedication?
The word MOMENT is the root of the word- MOMENTUM. As you transition into the next phase of 2016, this is the defining moment that will create more or less momentum in your life. How you determine to leave this month- and enter the next, will either dissipate or display momentum. What if you didn’t back-off in intensity but instead leaned in and pedaled harder? What if you carved more time out for your goals and left the remote to gather dust? What if you continued to check in with your spirit instead of Social Media? What if your intentionality in one area sharpened your focus and momentum in every area of your life?
We have a choice to make and important questions before us.
Will all the MOMENTUM we are gaining be lost or will it be multiplied?
The days to come will tell - for they will define the moments and the momentum of 2016.
FATHER, thank You for Your love and dedication to me. I am grateful that You are always focused on me. My wholeness, purpose and plans are important to You! You gave Your Son, Jesus Christ as a sacrifice so that I could live life to the fullest. I ask that You would reveal the areas of my life that can slow my progress toward Your perfect will in my life. Forgive me Father for any ways in which I have doubted or been unfaithful to the opportunities You have created for me. I commit myself to momentum for Your Kingdom. In Jesus name. Amen!

Quote of the Day: Momentum is the greatest of all change agencies. -Mathew Barnett
If you were to take out a piece of paper and write down every single person you SPOKE with yesterday and bullet point what you talked about, what would be the main themes? Would it have been about who's going to win the Super Bowl? Would it have been about...
If you were to take out a piece of paper and write down every single person you SPOKE with yesterday and bullet point what you talked about, what would be the main themes? Would it have been about who's going to win the Super Bowl? Would it have been about who's going to be the next President of the United States?
Often times, we can set our conversations with our closest relationships on cruise control- saving intentionality for the infrequent and forgetting to prioritize our inner circle. You're married, and you talked a lot yesterday, but did you REALLY talk about anything? Perhaps you went to lunch with your loved ones, but half of them were on their phones most of the time, and the ones who weren't didn't have much to add. You may have meetings this week where you spend hours talking about agenda items to keep the organization moving, but totally dismiss the tension brewing between co-workers that left unmanaged can cost valuable team members in the long run. We can do a lot of "catching up" covering the highlights our loved ones missed over the previous month or so, but then completely miss a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to talk about the things that really matter.
Colossians 4:6- “Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out."(MSG)
Have you heard about a close friend making plans to divorce and your response was, "I didn't know they were having problems like that?” It's amazing how close you can be to someone and not really be that close at all. We can’t make our friends open up to us, but we can go the extra mile to let them know that we care. We ought to have conversations today that energize the people we are around. Our conversations should have great intention to help each other grow in our relationships with God and man.
EVERY CONVERSATION YOU HAVE today is an OPPORTUNITY to bring OUT the best!
Father I ask You in the name of Jesus to keep a guard at my mouth and a watch over my thoughts so that I will not sin against you. May I always lift You up in conversation so to give You the glory You deserve! I ask You to forgive me when I cross lines of idle conversation. That I will keep my words full of purpose and love. Help me see the opportunity in laying my life down for a hard conversation with someone who needs help, when I choose to take a moment to ask someone about what is important to them, remind me that I am doing Your will. I thank you for filling my thoughts and my words with Your wisdom and compassion.
Let the Name of Jesus Reign by Covenant Worship has all the right words to elevate our live and the words we wrap ourselves in throughout the day!
Quote of the Day: BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO START A CONVERSATION THAT MATTERS.
Many activities DRAIN us and many activities ENERGIZE us. The list of things that drain one person can actually energize another person and vice versa. For some people, working out first thing in the morning energizes their day. But for a lot of people...
Many activities DRAIN us and many activities ENERGIZE us. The list of things that drain one person can actually energize another person and vice versa. For some people, working out first thing in the morning energizes their day. But for a lot of people, working out first thing in the morning would put them right back in the bed after they were done. One of the largest obstacles in engaging in activities that energize us is finding time in our busy schedule to do those things. Our schedules are so full of errands, taking care of the kids, and work that we often fail to follow through in to carving out "me" time.
While we encourage you to find the time to do more of the things that energize you, here's one thing the Bible offers you as something you can do TODAY to recharge your batteries.
Proverbs 11:25 "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."(NIV)
We all serve in what many scholars have called, "An Upside Down Kingdom." The premise of that concept is that often in scriptures the quickest way up is to go down. Jesus said, "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it." And Proverbs 11:25 is another one of those "upside down kingdom" moments in the Bible. If you're looking to be refreshed, you should start looking for someone else who needs to be refreshed and then respond. RIGHT NOW, you can ask God who in your world needs to be refreshed and encouraged today. Is it a family member? A co-worker? A girlfriend. Some of the people that need the most encouragement and refreshing are the people we spend time with the most, yet we assume they're encouraged enough.
Another verse in Hebrews shows us the urgency of encouraging others.
Hebrews 3:12- “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another DAILY, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. (NIV)
If you want to stay recharged and refreshed, make it your goal to do this: ENCOURAGE ONE PERSON EVERY SINGLE DAY. We live in a very discouraging society where people need only browse through social media to feel discouraged. Proverbs 11:25 is a steadfast reminder that we can be what we need. Instead of seeking encouragement we can be the encouragement and we will reap what we sow.
Father, thank you for the privilege you have given your children- to give first and then receive. It doesn't just work with money but also when we give of our time to others. Thank you for the return that we receive. You are a generous God!! You do what you will say you're going to do. Thank you that we as human beings can enjoy blessing and refreshing others. We LOVE doing things your way!! Teach us to see the value in one of your greatest commandments, do unto others as you would them do unto you!! Amen!
God will be faithful and NEVER FAIL to give you the words! Get into the grove of refreshing others with this great song from Anthony Evans.
Quote of the Day: BE A FOUNTAIN, NOT A DRAIN.
When we feel fear it is in our nature to respond in one of two ways: FIGHT or FLIGHT.
